Better Grantmaking Evaluation Starts NOW

If something is worth doing, it's worth evaluating. To make good decisions you have to have a plan, you have to gather the data, make sense of it, and impose value on it. What are you doing right? Where could you do it better? Of the things you could do better, which is more important?

A grants program that is properly evaluated gives twice: first, in the impact it has, and second, in making it possible for you - and your grantees - to do better next time, to make the best of every dollar spent.

Join us on August 8 and 9 to connect with your peers and learn who's doing what in grantmaking evaluation.

As well as the main conference on Thursday, August 8, the two-day event features Friday sessions bringing together state and federal, and local government experts in the unmissable Grantmaker Tribal Gatherings, and an essential session about Optimising SmartyGrants.

Who should attend

The conference on Thursday, August 8 is designed for grantmakers who are involved in delivering a local, state or federal government grants program, or a philanthropic/ corporate/community grants program. It's of particular interest to those who want to understand more about the impact their grants are helping to create.

Friday's tribal gathering sessions (August 9) are targeted specifically to local, state and federal government grantmakers.

The Optimising SmartyGrants session is most suitable for grantmakers who use or are familiar with SmartyGrants. Most (though not all) attendees and presenters are SmartyGrants users so you should expect lots of references to this software. Non-SmartyGrants users are also welcome to attend.

Why you should attend

Attendance at this conference should be viewed as an investment, not a cost. Sometimes grantmakers can be so intent on maximising the amount put towards grant recipients that they overlook the need to acquire new skills and knowledge for their own staff. Don't be that organisation.

Grantmaking is a highly specialised field, and it's important that you're on top of your game. The AIGM has spent nearly two decades tracking grantmaking, highlighting best and emerging practices, and bringing together grantmakers to learn from each other. Past conference attendees have told us that their attendance at this conference has resulted in real outcomes - you won't get this content anywhere else.
